We do not join the chorus of condemnation of the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation.
In a resounding and co-ordinated military action, the Palestinian resistance forces took the entire Israeli military, colonial and intelligence apparatus by surprise.
After decades of barbarism in the name of Israel’s security, on the anniversary of the Yom Kippur War (1973), the Palestinians shouted to Israel and the world that the occupation of Palestine is no longer acceptable.
With the resounding military action, the Palestinian people are sending out the message that normalisation of relations between Arab countries and Israel can never be achieved at the expense of the Palestinians.
The complicit inertia with which the international community has allowed Israeli governments every arbitrary act against the Palestinians must now be confronted with a clear and strong message: peace in the Middle East must be based on justice for the rights of the Palestinian people and the resolutions passed by the UN but disregarded for decades.
What happened in Palestine is further confirmation that the world is changing and that international relations in the 21st century will be decidedly different from previous ones.
History is not over, it’s only ‘their’ history which is ending.
