Rete dei Comunisti – Cambiare Rotta – OSA
We express our full solidarity with the 8 Palestine Action activists, on hunger strike since 2 November of this year, and the couple of thousand others who, during these months, were arrested for showing solidarity with this direct action, non-violent group.
Palestine Action has been known for its political initiatives against the military-industrial complex, complicit in the ongoing genocide in Palestine, pointing out a system that perpetuates a scientific massacre of Palestinians.
The group was banned in June under the Terrorism Act 2000 after being equated to a terrorist organization (such as ISIS, for example).
The detainees attending judgment for almost a year now are seeing their trials scheduled for 2026 and 2027, exceeding the six-month expectation and without the possibility of exiting carcels. All of this with an extremely harsh detentive treatment, all factors that indicate a vindictive intention of a state determined to contrast a public opinion that condemns Britain’s support of zionism.
What we are witnessing is the biggest coordinated hunger strike, interrupted only by 3 activist in high-risk conditions, after that of 1981, where 9 Irish political prisoners, along with Bobby Sands, lost their lives to reduce the status of political prisoners.
The Irish independence militant perished on the 46th day of the strike, in one of the most dramatic phases of the fight for independence, while some of the activists currently on hunger strike, with ages between 20 and 31, have exceeded this number of days.
Recently, the English government has refused, with ridiculous excuses, the prisoners’ proposal for better treatment and the withdrawal of the ban against the group. This shows once again the hostility of the laborists in power and their complicity with sionism.
Thousands of people have been arrested simply for showing a sign in support of Palestine Action, like our sister in struggle, Greta.
Everything happening in a West complicit with zionism, continuing the military occupation of the Strip and the colonization of the West Bank – with the official announcement from the government in Tel Aviv of 19 new illegal settlements rising on occupied land – showing a moral bankruptcy that brings it to use the criminalisation of solidarity with Palestine as a means to militarise the “home front” to silence the voices contrasting rearm and austerity policies.
Free Palestine!
